Mowing The Lawn
Ah…full, burgeoning spring…
Turning to summer.
Thunder rumbles, lightning flashes…
And the grass grows tall,
Thick, and damp after rain.
And I must mow it
Chop it, hack it down
With a green machine that roars…
Then coughs out broken grass leaves.
But strangely, though I moan at the thought,
I enjoy mowing that pesky lawn.
It is peaceful and rewarding…
A time all to myself and God,
To pray and to dream
And once that shaggy carpet is tamed…
A fine rug of softness beckons me to lie down
And drink of the rest I have earned.
Rainy Days
I love a rainy day.
There is something about the soft grays on muted greens and the beautiful, near-chaotic sounds of God’s orchestra that is so healing and restful.
At least for me.
I look forward to the sunshine, but a gentle, rainy day makes me feel loved, like I’m wrapped up in a blanket of peace and God is rocking me. Even the wind is soothing.
“The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever. The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.” Psalm 29:10&11
