God, take this new year
Make it better than the last.
So fill our hearts with dreams and plans
That we burst with new wine…
Vision and power…
Success and contentment.
Let us not waste each precious moment.
For you gift to the children of men time
To use wisely.
So help us, Lord, to enjoy this time You give,
Please guide our feet and hold our hands.
Lead us, Lord.

Love Like A Cat
Funny how God shows You His love at times.
I have a cat named Rocky who often loves me to the point of annoyance. He is fourteen years old and has been with me since he was about 8 weeks old. He is my baby, my still spry lively one. My little Prince Rochester.
He calls for me by name…Mama, like I used to call myself when he was little. He follows me around, begs to eat what I eat, sleeps with me, often on my side or my breast. He sings when I am coming home, I am told.
He wants to be held all the time.
But have you ever tried to prepare a hot breakfast with a small, wiry cat attached to your shoulder? Rocky has perfected his technique well. I can bend over, let go of him completely, and he doesn’t fall. Mr. Kitty Leach, thank you very much!
And he has no front claws…
Often, God has told me to be like my Rocky. He wants us, His children, to be so close to Him that we will not leave Him alone, underfoot, clinging to Him, calling Him by name. Never letting go, anticipating His coming.
Eating what He eats.
God calls us as His Princes and Princesses to act, from our hearts, like my little Rocky.
“So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when He adopted you as His own children. Now we call Him, ‘Abba, Father.‘” Romans 8:15 NLT

Please dance and sing over those in peril and pluck them out of danger, Lord. Amen.
“May the LORD answer you in the day of distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you. May he send you help from the sanctuary, and may he sustain you from Zion.”
Psalm 20:1-2 ISV
Dancing Hearts
I want a dancing heart,
One that leaps at small miracles.
A look in the eye,
A snowflake in mid-air,
The cabbage moths playing together in summer,
My cats sleeping dog-piled in twos,
The crown of my sister’s head asleep on my breast,
And the softness of her hair under my hand as she trusts me and rests…
The little things are miracles.
Feline heart-beats and purrings…
My heart dances when I notice these seemingly mundane things
Because they are precious.
In quiet moments, I feel God dance with me,
His arms around my heart.
Quietest, deepest communion…
Softly dancing, like lovers on a ballroom floor lost in each other,
Each listening to a mutually pounding heart…in tandem with their own.
Miracles do happen.
This is my dancing heart.
“My lover spoke and said to me, ‘Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, and come with me.
See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land. The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance. Arise, come, my darling; my beautiful one, come with me.’” Song of Solomon 2:10-13 NIV
Thoughts on Worship
I found this piece in one of my old journals and decided to share it.
When you draw close to God,
the music becomes a communication between you and God.
It is no longer just pretty music.
Worship becaomes a connection between you and your Maker.
This where you are meant to live.
When you are in this place with all your heart, nothing else matters.
” One of the scribes came near and heard them disputing with one another,
and seeing that he answered them well, he asked Him, ‘Which commandment is the first of all?’
Jesus answered, “The first is, ‘Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one;
you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”’ Mark 12:28 & 31 NRSV
